The Split Flow Loop™ (U2000) is Casale’s process for new urea plants with capacity up to 4,000 MTD. It is an improved CO2 stripping process in which part of the vapours leaving the stripper are directly sent back to the reactor, whilst the balance is recycled to the reactor after being condensed in a HP condenser. This reduces the amount of inerts passing through the reactor, resulting in a beneficial effect on the CO2 conversion efficiency.
A further benefit stems from the adoption of a proprietary, submerged-type HP condenser (the Full Condenser™) in place of the more common film-type, which greatly boosts the efficiency of the carbamate condenser.
