Revamp focused to reduce the difference in production load between hot and cold seasons. Cooling capacity of the plant is enhanced using dedicated technolgies and without penalizing plant energy consumption.
A characteristic shortcoming of ammonia plants which make extensive use of air coolers and are located in regions of the world where there is a significant difference between summer and winter ambient temperatures is that they are forced to reduce plant load in the hottest season. The process air compressor and the refrigeration compressor are the main bottlenecks. Production can be stabilized by improving the cooling system of the plant, possibly exploiting low-grade heat available in the process. Casale has applied different technologies to solve this issue.
